Be the Change no. 32
“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”
Be the Change.
What a productive Sunday. It was a gorgeous day to be outside and working on the plantation yet again. I managed to move and clean up for the spring. Ran an irrigation system to help out with watering of the raised beds. And things are looking good after sorting my seeds. I have a few holes in my vegetable crop to fill this week in order to be ready for planting. BUT, it was a good time to get dirty and get clean.
I thought that getting outside this weekend would help with my sleeping problem over the past few days. I keep waking up around 2 and just get a nap here and there before it’s time to get up and start the day. That is one thing I really need to work on this week and, hopefully, Python will go back to his own bed. He is not the best to have in your bed since his sleeping routine involves an intricate gymnastics routine. In the week ahead, that is going to be my focus, sleeping better.
I hope this weather holds for a long while BUT I am sure it will change again soon. This week I am going to attempt covering my garden beds with plastic. Hopefully that will keep the soil warmer when the cold snap eventually comes. A lot of bed talk today. Garden beds and sleeping beds.
Tending to your bed is important. Without a good restful area, the rest of your day can be total chaos. So, I am going to tend to both my sleep and the rest of my crops. Keeping things as simple as possible this week to reclaim my rest.
I am flying through a lot of books so far this year. I already have a stack that is growing. A lot of this is due to my focus on the need for my students to read. Reading is an important joy that a lot of them are missing. And the benefits of reading are immense. I was just reading a study that lengthened reading to longevity. The psychological benefits are enormous as well. So, I am maintaining my reading goals this year and hoping to lead my students into finding an increased appreciation or renewed reward in the joy of reading. I hope you are reading something too.
Right now, I am reading God Came Near by Max Lucado and The Tipping Point by Macolm Gladwell while rereading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig. Of course you would know this if you followed me on GoodReads. What are you reading?
