Be the Change no. 26

“Folks playing dress up are responsible for more heinous acts than folks in blue jeans.”

Be the Change.

Folks are kind of like peahens, attracted to a flashy display by a peacock. There is a whole cultural bias towards folks that are well-dressed, uniformed, or fashionable. Folks get caught up in the wrapping paper and tinsel while failing to see that a lot of this packaging is done cleverly to distract our attention. Just like the inordinate amount of focus given by media towards one event to distract folks from the truly despicable things occurring around the world. And a lot of those truly despicable things are done by folks playing dress up. Folks in costumes are ruining the world.

And it doesn’t take many of these decorated and custom-wrapped folks to steer the world in the incorrect direction. Studies all around the world of all types of folks points to the 80-20 rule about societies. And that small number of folks playing dress up are responsible for steering the majority through influence and force. We are all accustomed to bank robbers and the like disguising their identities, however, the costumes worn by these leaders are also a false face that disguises their true nature.

Start looking behind the trappings and wrappings? You will find that these are not superheroes. These folks are not altruistically driven. These folks are just as insecure, just as fallible, just as selfish, just as greedy, and just as scared as the bulk of humanity. They just put on a costume to disguise that fact and we get distracted by the wrapping paper.
