Be the Change no. 13
“You are only as helpless as you want to believe.”
Be the Change.
Folks have volumes of excuses that they speak at differing volumes. Some excuses are spoken loudly to the crowd, other excuses are spoken conversationally, while other excuses are spoken internally. Folks have a lot of excuses for their actions. We are emotional beings that come up with rational and logical support for our decisions after the fact. So, it is no surprise that we are quite adept at generating believable excuses and that we believe our excuses more than the excuses of others. Why do we not believe the excuses of others? Because we know our excuses, like us, are full of shit.
We are temporal beings while tied to this flesh. We don’t worry about the future as much as we should. We are more concerned with getting through whatever finite block of time with which we are struggling at the moment. Just gotta make it to retirement. Just gotta make it to Friday. Just gotta make it to the end of this shift. Just gotta make it through this meeting. Just gotta make it through this moment. We are so concerned with what is right in front of us that we often miss the bigger picture, the larger world, the infinite consciousness.
We get bogged down in the minutia because we make things so difficult. We struggle and fight and bicker and argue and are generally unhappy. Why? Why do we choose to scuk at living?
God didn’t create me to suck. God didn’t create you to suck. If you think there is more to get out of life then why aren’t you getting it? Here come the excuses.
I made the excuses too. I still generate excuses. I cannot stop making excuses. You probably can’t either. BUT we can stop believing them. We can start seeing them for what they are . . . obstacles to being better, obstacles to being happy, obstacles to living abundantly. We do not need to believe everything our brain tells us. Our brain is lazy. Remember that it only wants to do the things it is good at doing. It doesn’t want to change. Change requires making new connections and learning new things and changing its structure. The brain doesn’t have time for that. BUT it does have time for excuses because excuses let it remain the same.
Maybe you don’t want change. Maybe you want the same today as yesterday. Maybe you are content to exist like this until your time ends. BUT maybe, just maybe, you want to start talking to yourself without excuses. Maybe you want to think better. Maybe you want to live better. Maybe you want to be better.
Or you can have the same. The choice each day is yours to believe your bullshit or to believe in you. What are you going to choose?
