Personal Meditations no. 175
“It’s not all in your mind but if you don’t control your mind, then the rest doesn’t matter.”
Embrace the Within
This weather? I tell you. This weather makes it difficult to spend any meaningful amount of time outside in the gardens and I need my dirt therapy to keep me sane. I did get to finish the irrigation system on Friday afternoon BUT, not a lot is getting done outside right now with the cold weather and biting winds. The winds cut through everything.
This weekend looks to be much better than last and I am putting faith in the idea that winter’s cold breath will stop crawling down my spine and the return of good times outside in the dirt will pick back up again. Things were going so well and then, of course, there is the messiness of life. And I am quite a messy person.
Well, I am going to get back to freezing around here for another day and then I and the gardens will be back on the mend. Being stuck inside without the sun and the dirt just brings me down. I need to work on that mindset in the future because winter and fall will always appear. I just have to do a better job of weathering those situations. Maybe I need a bigger greenhouse or a sunroom or another diversion. Whatever it is, I need to find that alternative to brooding and feeling bad about being inside.
Here is to surviving another day indoors and the promise of nicer days to come.
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
