Personal Meditation No. 97

"Life is internal conflicts masquerading as external conflicts."

Embrace the Within.

There is a lot of programming to unlearn before you can really start moving into being a human. That’s my daily conflict. Looking for the humanity I possess in a world that has done everything to make me into a citizen, a member, a consumer, a fan, a groupie, a follower, a slave, something less than alive. I take full responsibility for my part in that process. I was more than complicit in becoming all sorts of things rather than finding my humanity. There are many diversions in this society to get you and I off course. And I found many ways to get off course in forty years and change.

But the great thing about those diversions is that they’re rather transparent. They don’t withstand scrutiny. And it gets easier to find those tactics being used to influence your actions the longer you live. Well, hopefully. If you’re learning from life and growing in your knowledge. If you’re working on being human, it gets easier to see when folks are trying to make you something else.

Every day I wake up to get better. I work on my physical and mental me every day. I get out there and put in the work on getting free. I am embracing what is within in a hope at getting to a better me. I know I won’t be perfect. That isn’t my goal. I just want to keep being a human every day.

I don’t want anything else. I want to eat like a human. I want to think like a human. I want to act like a human. What do you want? And what are you doing to get there?

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been making poor choices. I made plenty for decades. But all it takes is one good choice to fuel the next good choice. And then you’re starting a path. Have fun on your journey.
