Personal Meditation No. 84
"Start worrying about yourself. If you don't invest in your own life, then why would anyone else choose to invest in your life either."
Embrace the Within.
We are some truly insecure creatures. I tend to worry more about what other people think than what I think a lot of the time. And that’s a struggle I’m willing to undertake daily. LEtting go of the social aspects that frame my life and embracing my new self, my true self.
I know. We all think we don’t care about society or the judgment of others but that is just some bullshit you tell yourself to try and convince yourself that you don’t when in fact you do. We all do. So, it’s better to just embrace that we do care because we do. Then we can move on and past that control. Not recognizing that it is there or pretending it doesn’t exist doesn’t do us one ounce of good.
We are social creatures no matter what we try to tell ourselves. We existed in tribes and families to protect ourselves and secure our survival. We’re not going to rewrite thousands of years of history over a weekend, a month, or a year. So acknowledging that we seek a tribe and that we need that group is an important step. But finding the right tribe is even more important.
You want a tribe that shares your core values. And that doesn’t mean they vote, think, and dress the same as you, it means they fundamentally see life the same as you. Those people are out there despite how messed up and insane your world-view may be. No matter how sick and twisted your view of life may be, there are others out there that think the same way.
So, find the folks that are as warped in their perception of reality as you and build your tribe? Together you will make navigating the realm of possibilities easier for each other. You will offer safety and reassurance in the company of like-minded deviants.
Together, you can invest in your lives together. And then you can stop worrying about the folks that don’t share your vision of reality because you will always have the comfort of your tribe.
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
