Personal Meditation No. 83

“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Embrace the Within.

There are a lot of virtues getting signaled out there from all different manner of people. So much more attention is given to saying the right things and appearing to hold the most ethical of beliefs rather than the actions that are required to live an ethical life. It is much easier to talk the good game than to live the good game.

And talking is simply blowing air. It would mean nothing for me to tap-tap-tap-a-roo on this keyboard every morning if what I was saying wasn’t the struggle I was working through every day. It would be pointless to talk about getting free if I wasn’t involved in the daily action of trying to get freer. It would be pointless for me to talk about something if I wasn’t putting in the time to achieve it.

But there is a lot of talk today and very little meaningful action. Sure, folks will repost, change their avatars, and make noise about things they don’t like but those actions are activity masquerading as accomplishment. They are meaningless. They lack any tangible component of making a difference.

But dedicating your life to that change is something different. I have friends that are all in on changing their lives. They aren’t walking around talking about change, they are actively involved in changing. And I applaud action. It takes a lot to decide you’re not going to walk around putting feathers up your butt and pretending you’re a chicken.

It takes a dedication to change. A dedication to wake up every day and move yourself a little further down the path you choice. A dedication to making your life the way you want it to be. A dedication to owning yourself and your actions. A dedication to personal responsibility.

So, today, let’s get on the path of action? Let’s not sit around saying we’ll do that tomorrow because tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Let’s be present in the present and make ourselves what we want to be?
