Personal Meditation No. 82
"The composition or inclinations of a group does not change with a changing label. Whether it is named a mob, a gathering, a protest, a company, a community, or a government, it is still comprised of people with all their flaws and imperfections. "
Embrace the Within.
We get hung up on labels. We use those labels to quickly stereotype what those groups are and what their underlying intent is. Most of this becomes unconscious through years of deliberate indoctrination and programming by many systems in our lives. And since our brain is lazy, the brain takes these established paradigms as truth and reacts accordingly.
Government functions in most aspects like any poor-performing company. It has the same structure, provides services, and charges folks to do so. It is a huge business that goes unchecked and is corrupt. It is a business that relies on threats and violence rather than superior quality and competitive prices.
Some folks will talk about the evils of big business and neglect to include government in that umbrella despite its similarities. Folks make this exclusion because the purpose of these groups, their inclinations, are programmed into us as different.
Government is benevolent, it is selfless, it is for the greater good. Business is evil, it is selfish, it is greedy. But the folks in these groups intermingle. They move from private to public, another set of system labels that evoke, and back and forth all the time. The two systems are indistinguishable in their composition. These two systems are taught as different but their differences disappear when examining their composition and their function. They are made of the same people, doing similar things but our perception of these two, our reaction to these two, our judgment of these two differ.
Labels aren't helping us. Labels only help our lazy brains that don't want to make changes and learn. Our brains only want to do things the easiest way possible. So, maybe get your brain thinking and doing different things today? It will hurt, it will be exhausting, it will be rewarding, it will be different. It will be a step toward owning your mind, your body, your life.
I hope you find whatever you're looking for. Have the day you want.
