Personal Meditation No. 58

“Start focusing on what you feel, you think, you believe inside and stop worrying about the feelings, thoughts, and beliefs of others.”

Embrace the Within.

Advice can be a wonderful thing to get when it’s solicited and sincere, however, a lot of advice is unsolicited and insincere. A lot of advice is not given for your best interest but for the interest of those giving the advice. So consider the source of advice when determining whether to take that advice to heart or not. Does that person know what they’re talking about?

I’m not going to take health advice from a fat doctor. I’m not going to take relationship advice from someone unhappy in their relationship. I’m not going to take life advice from someone that is a mess, hot or cold.

And there are a lot of those people out there giving advice. More of them than the people that are working to be better. The people that are working on being better don’t give much advice because working on their body, their mind, their life is their focus and not what other folks are doing. And working on yourself is a full-time job.

So even though we are social animals and we like to get advice to reinforce our actions, there is no substitute for what is inside you. Most of the time what you feel, what you think, and what you believe will lead you down the right path. And if you want advice, then find folks that are where you want to be and not folks where you are.

So, find a tribe of folks working toward what you want? Find the people that have what you want? Surround yourself with what you want to be rather than what you are today?

I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.

I got tired of looking for places to place blame and others to fix my problems. I hope you find some of what you're looking for here as well.
