Personal Meditation No. 55
“You can’t teach someone that already knows everything.”
Embrace the Within.
I learned a lot over the last fourteen days when we were stopping the spread. I hope everyone learned something over those fourteen days as well. I hope you learned a skill or a hobby or a new outlook on life because it would be a shame to think those fourteen days were wasted.
Personally, I learned that I really like being outside and that I had almost forgotten that. I started sitting on the porches more often to read. I spent more time outside working on the gardens. I expanded my tool inventory to include a chainsaw which I really enjoy using. I read many books about many different topics. I thought about life and the world and the way the fourteen days were going. I learned I really didn’t want to leave my home anyway.
Sure, there were some bad things too but overall I feel the benefits outweighed the problems for me. I gained some new perspective, some new hobbies, and some new appreciation and gratitude. And I learned a lot of new things . . . . So many that I have recently said on more than one occasion, “I can’t learn another thing.”
But, somehow, I still go out and learn new things. This week I’ve learned a lot about lime and diatomaceous earth and natural insect repellents. And I’m going to learn how to build another rabbit hutch tomorrow. So, despite not feeling like I can jam another piece of knowledge into my brain, feeling like I can’t possibly learn how to anything else, I’m still expanding and growing as a person.
So, I encourage you to learn something new this week. Read something you would never read, try something you would never try, and maybe enjoy the experience? I’m grateful to be able to keep learning when so many already know it all.
I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.
