Personal Meditation No. 54
“You can’t teach someone that already knows everything.”
Embrace the Within.
I knew everything just a few years ago. I had it all figured out and if only people would stop being so foolish and just asked me, then I could solve all their problems. Yeah. Does that sound familiar as well? I think most of us go through that stage, hell, some of us never get past that stage.
It is fortunate for myself and for most of us that we do outgrow that stage of life. The stage of being the all-seing, all-knowing god on earth that knows so much better than their parents, their teachers, their neighbors, their coworkers, their family, their friends, and complete strangers. When I was in that stage, I couldn’t learn anything because I already knew everything.
And if you think you know everything, then you’re right. Because you know everything you’re ever going to know. You can’t learn something new if you already know it all.
So, there is really no point in trying to teach someone that already knows everything. Let them with that stage in their life. I couldn’t learn anything then and neither could you. We had to grow and understand that there was much more to life than what we had “figured out”. We had to understand that not knowing is not scary, it’s not frightening, it’s not evil, it’s not bad . . . Not knowing is life. Doing despite the uncertainty is a kind of courage that all-knowing folks don’t possess. And it isn’t something you can teach. It is something we each have to learn on our own.
But once we get there, then the world is something truly mystical, special, and alive.
I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.
