Personal Meditation No. 27
“I believe in the power of you even when you do not.”
Embrace the Within.
Planted a lot yesterday because I needed the time to refocus. Being able to see when you need to take a few steps back and refocus is an important skill.
Even for folks that aren’t stressed, the pace of this life can sometimes get the best of you. So, you need to refocus and take a minute. A minute to visualize, a minute to reflect, a minute to recharge, a minute to prioritize. Because no one is going to do that for you in a healthy way.
There are plenty of folks that will channel that focus into unhealthy and destructive journeys for you but very few that will get you back on your journey. Mainly because you are the only person that truly understands that journey. And you have the ultimate power to focus that journey even when you think you don’t, even whey you feel don’t. You’ve got this.
For having four kids my life is quite low stress. I do still share the responsibility of being their Uber driver at all times but that affords me the time to listen to a number of podcasts or, on the remote chance I get caught up, my music. Take the time to enjoy the drives and enjoy the waits by listening to what I enjoy helps me get my mind on me and off of the chore. These moments give me more information to help me on my journey and teach me lessons about myself from the stories and experience of others. I don’t disregard a chance at learning something. Even learning something I find disagreeable and wrong.
That is the value of a decision-making mind. Listening to things with which you disagree and determining that value on your own. Being cognizant and awake to influences and biases you possess and then looking at those arguments through the lens they are presented and the truth they might yield. But that takes a lot of metacognition. That takes a lot of knowing you. That takes a lot of serious questioning and conversating with yourself.
But, you can get there. Spend some time yourself with today? Really get to begin having those honest conversations with yourself? Think about what influences your thoughts? your beliefs? your life?
I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.
