Personal Meditation No. 23

“Only you can bring yourself peace.”

Embrace the Within.

Most people are looking outside of them for peace. You are never going to find peace outside of you because what is outside of you is not under your control. The only thing you control is you.

People latch themselves to any number of beliefs and faiths in powers greater than them. They worship people, places, and things but neglect to work on themselves.

I have found that working on me has made me feel better about everything I control. When I wake in the morning and start my day with this routine of working out my body and mind, I feel accomplished and start my day on a winning streak. I remember days of dragging myself out of bed to get in the shower at the last minute to start my day. Pouring myself full of sugars and caffeine and nicotine to get me rolling. Now it’s a workout and salt water. I am just as sore then as I am now but this soreness comes from purpose and not unhealthiness.

Starting my days off with a win makes everything else much easier. And those victories don’t have to be monumental to set your mind in the right path. The little victories are the best to celebrate. The little victories are life.

So, once I finish working out my body I established that the next part of my day is typing to myself. Journaling is an important way for me to get my thoughts together and focus on the tasks at hand today. Today those tasks are ending this school year strong. I don’t have a current book to read so that’s a bit of a bummer but that will remedy itself soon.

Setting those daily goals and achieving those little victories sets me on the path to being grateful and visualizing the day ahead. I can face the day with courage, justice, moderation, and wisdom with a destination already in my mind. Getting back home to gather eggs, walk the garden, and relax on the porch.

Today set up some little victories for yourself? Start off the day with little wins to get your mind in the habit of winning? See how this mindset change can help change where your mind takes you today?

I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.

I got tired of looking for places to place blame and others to fix my problems. I hope you find some of what you're looking for here as well.
