Personal Meditation no. 217

“That’s just too much work.”

Embrace the Within.

It’s a lot of work. Waking up daily and working out is too much work. Eating real food is a lot of work. Growing your own food is a lot of work. Drinking a gallon of water is a lot of work. Raising livestock is a lot of work. Raising children is a lot of work. Having a partner is a lot of work. Being friends is a lot of work. Working a job is a lot of work. Being a Christian is a lot of work. Doing the right thing is a lot of work. Being alive is a lot of work. And if you are like me and you want to change and be better every day, what you are noticing is what makes all the difference is your life is putting in the work. When you put in the work, you will see results.

If you think things are too much work, then you are correct. We make time for what we value. Our actions are what we believe. I could sit over here all day telling you what I think BUT if I never went out there and planted seeds, if I never went out there and changed my routine, if I never went out there and changed my life, then what’s the use? Why even get up and pretend? Whe even sit here and type every day? I could be laying in bed hitting the snooze button. I could be drinking a pot of coffee to get going. I could be eating something chock full of sugar to get me energy. I could be grumbling my way out the door for a lengthy commute. I could be in a horrible mood and in terrible health. I can choose that just as easily as you can choose that mind set, that journey, that existence. Because it is simply existing with very little joy.

BUT I enjoy putting in the work because I enjoy feeling alive. I used to be a victim of everything around me. I could blame Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, my neighbor, or anyone else for my problems. There are plenty of places to point fingers because there are plenty of folks doing the wrong thing. Billions of folks out there making the world miserable. Billions of folks out there living a sucky life. Billions of folks that could be happy. Billions of folks that could find meaning. Billions of folks that are not ready to put in the work.

BUT I am ready to put in the work. You are ready to put in the work. And that is all that is important. It doesn’t matter that inflation is out of control. It doesn’t matter that the world is a mess. It doesn’t matter that a new disease is out there looking to kill you. It doesn’t matter that folks are making new laws. It doesn’t matter that the world is against you. What matters is that you and I are ready to put in the work. We are ready to make the change. We are ungovernable. We have no limits. We want to live abundantly and joyfully despite what the world wants for us. We want to change. And all we need to do is commit to the change and work the plan.

Living the life you want to live is a lot of work. It’s not going to be easy. It’s work. BUT if you want something, if you really believe something, if something is important to you, then you make the time for that. You change your schedule to accommodate that. You change your life to incorporate that. Your actions will show what you value.

Bless your heart. Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
