Personal Meditation no. 204

“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Embrace the Within.

Finding peace seems to be a running theme for today so I figured I would continue to work on processing the importance of finding peace. As a member of the liberty community, I see an awful lot of fighting and bickering and complaining and name-calling and all sorts of disturbing and disruptive speech that fails to bring peace. There are a lot of folks more preoccupied with being right than finding peace. I was one of those people for years. I never met a pot that I wasn’t ready to stir just to prove how right I was. And I rarely got a moment of peace because there was always another person out there ready to forsake peace as well.

I do strive for peace now. Peace for myself and peace for others. That is why I bail from arguments these days. I understand that people don’t want peace as much as they want to be right because I walked that road before. I understand that I am not going to convert anyone by arguing with them. I am not going to change minds by name-calling and facts. I am probably not going to change anyone’s mind ever. No matter how valid my claims, how well-thought I am, how perfectly I structure my argument, or how many studies and experiences I can cite as support. This blog I have been writing for the past fourteen days isn’t going to change anyone’s mind. If I continue with videos on the YouTube channel, then those are not going to convert anyone either. Nothing I can do or say or think is going to change anyone’s mind. And it never changed my mind either. And I have to come to peace with that fact.

And once I did come to embrace that truth, then I found the peace on the other side. I don’t have to worry about my argument or my facts or my opinions because they are mine. I am at peace with my life and who I am. And that is something a lot of folks say that aren’t truly at peace. They know it’s a lie inside BUT they know that peace is something to achieve. Peace is a goal for us all. Even though we like to fight and choose violence, nothing beats the sleep of being at peace. Nothing beats being awake and at peace. Nothing beats driving down the road at peace. Nothing beats looking at the news with peace. Nothing beats peace.

And I am not going to find peace looking at the world of men and women. I am not going to find peace in conversation with violent folks. I am not going to find peace anywhere on earth. Peace transcends all that temporal background noise. Peace is eternal. Once I hit the groove of peaceful living, I found the path to getting things done. I hope you can find peace as well.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
