Personal Meditation No. 160
“You are useful, useless, usable, or used. These are not mutually exclusive categories.”
Embrace the Within.
I see a lot of worried folks when I look out from this chair. A lot of folks that feel useless, usable, or used. Folks that feel life has taken from them and left them hollow. Folks that feel life isn’t mysterious and wonderful anymore. Folks that have lost meaning.
I combat that feeling by being useful. I am useful to myself in taking care of my health every morning by waking up and working out. I am useful to myself by remembering to drink plenty of water and staying hydrated. I am useful to myself by avoiding processed foods and focusing on eating things that look like actual plants. I am useful to myself by spending some time typing away each morning to align my thoughts with my destination in this journey. I am useful to myself by taking my journey seriously and making it a priority.
Sure, some days are struggles. Especially those days in the winter when your body gets attacked by sickness and the hours of darkness lay heavy on your soul. BUT I do the best I can in those days and strive to be better the next minute, next hour, next day as I continue on this journey. Giving up is an option at all times. It’s the option that leads back to a rut I have been within before. Persevering and continuing my journey is the option I choose daily.
You can feel however you want to feel each day. You get to make that choice. Consider how you set yourself for success or failure by the way you begin your day? If you don’t like how things are going, then you can always make a change.
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
