Personal Meditation No. 137

"Start worrying about yourself. If you don't invest in your own life, then why would anyone else choose to invest in your life either."

Embrace the Within.

Change and living better isn’t for everyone. I am only writing this blog every day for myself, firstly, and, secondarily, so that the minority of people looking to change can see that it is possible. If you’ve already accepted changing, then you might find my journey and process interesting BUT I really doubt you’re coming to me for insights.

This is for me to talk about the changes and the struggles I have and am currently working through in order to bring positive change into my life. This is not a place for the majority of folks because folks talk about a lot of things and worry about a lot of things BUT they never seem to worry about the proper things. Folks seem to forget, or are easily distracted from realizing, they should start worrying about their bodies, their minds, and their lives. Folks do not comprehend that the only person they control is themself. Sure, we can invest time into other folks and influence them BUT we only have control over the choices we make. We can hope our kids, our family, our friends, our co-workers, our acquaintances, our students, our teachers, make better choices. We can influence those people by the choices we make in living our lives and embodying the spirit of change. We can be an example of positive change and living abundantly. We can live a life that others want to emulate. BUT the only real change we can make is in our own lives.

So, if you’re making changes today and you’re struggling through. As I have said before, the struggling doesn’t go away BUT the path becomes easier. Just like your old path took time to create a rut, this path of change takes time as well. You need to wear down the new trail that leads to your destination just like you wore down the path to your old destination. So, there is no way in hiding that change is hard work BUT it should be the hard work you enjoy doing. If you don’t want to get somewhere different, then the old path is fine for you. If you don’t have a destination in mind, then any path will do. BUT if you do have a destination and if you do want something different, then you can see the path you need to take. It is up to you to put in the work to get there.

And you will get there. I’ve been putting in the work for the longest fourteen days ever. And there are still bumps along the path. There are moments when I choose the wrong thing. There are moments when I stumble. BUT, the difference is I do not let the negative choices outweigh all the positive changes I have made. I am not going back to that rut because I chose a new path. I consciously choose every day to keep going down this path no matter what obstacles are placed in my way. It is hard work BUT after the longest fourteen days ever, I saw what that path was heading toward and I can see how much better the destination on this path. A destination where I am better physically, mentally, and emotionally. I hope you have a similar journey in mind. Find that path today?

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

I got tired of looking for places to place blame and others to fix my problems. I hope you find some of what you're looking for here as well.
