Personal Meditation No. 119
“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”
Embrace the Within.
My life is an incessant amount of notes to myself left on sticky notes or index cards. Things to remember, lists to complete, ideas to research, and stuff to write about . . . those are my lists scribbled down and accumulated in front of this computer. I’m into taking notes about life. It gives me some order to the things I want to research and remember. It gives me lists of things to accomplish. It gives me an order to what doesn’t make much sense on a macro view.
I guess it is just my system for controlling the things that I can control rather than getting bogged down with the enormity of things that are beyond my control. The enormity is ever increasing, however, the circle of control remains relatively the same.
I control that every day I get up and start the routine of living a better life. I get my body and mind in order to accomplish the tasks littered around my keyboard. I get focused on what pieces of the puzzle need to get laid in place today. And then I go out and make that happen to the best of my abilities. At the end of the day, I can take a look at the new notes that I made during the course of the day and add them to the pile already waiting for me. A pile I then get to sort and organize and declutter in the promise of another day to get to work.
One day I’m not going to get another day. One day those notes are just going to remain there. One day those notes will get thrown away. Every last note will hit the bottom of the trash can. BUT, until that day when the notes get thrown out by someone else, I’m going to work. I am going to put in the work every day to work on those notes. Those notes help make me better each and every day.
I hope you have a method of dealing with the madness of the world around you. Maybe you make notes to yourself as well. Maybe you have some other way to focus your day and your control on your goal. Whatever those methods are, whatever those routines entail, whatever order you impose on your life, I hope they’re getting you where you want to go.
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
