Personal Meditation No. 118
“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”
Embrace the Within.
Nothing bothers me more than folks complaining. And there is no shortage of reasons for them to invent in order to complain. One of my favorite complaints is always about how much money they make. Folks would rather complain about what they make than actively work on increasing their pay. Folks want unions, associations, employers, government to do all their work for them. And that is kind of the reason they don’t get paid any more than they do. They aren’t actively involved in making more money. They are inactively involved in being given a wage. And it’s a lot easier to complain about the wage you are given from someone else than to build something of value on your own.
Closely tied to that complaint is the complaint of how expensive everything is. Or how expensive certain things are. Nothing costs any more to make today than it did a hundred years ago. The amount of labor and material to create anything is probably a lot less than it was. It doesn’t cost me any more to grow my own food or build my own fences or anything. What has changed is the value of the currency being traded. When the amount of currency in circulation goes up, then the prices inflate. Nothing costs any more than it ever did. Your bad monetary policy of flooding the market with imaginary money made the prices go up.
But, hey, everyone loves free stuff. The problem is nothing is free. Freedom isn’t free. Free lunches aren’t free. Free college isn’t free. Everything costs something to someone. That someone might not be you BUT that is doubtful because you’re taxed and inflated out of your money. You know, the money you complain about being given in exchange for your services. Or goods. But I don’t think many of the folks complaining produce any products.
I don’t like complaining about personal choices. You can choose to do things differently. That takes effort and active participation in your own life. You can choose to make better choices. You can start by working on your health. You can be physically, emotionally, and financially healthy. And the cost of that has never changed. The cost is an investment in you.
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
