Personal Meditation No. 11
“Imagine allowing the performance of others to determine your value.”
Embrace the Within.
Now that semblance of the old ways have returned to America and sporting is more widespread, fandom awakens.
The bread and circuses train of control keeps barreling forward. Government didn’t close the liquor stores or fast food restaurants and government encouraged sports to keep sporting even without fans in attendance.
Sporting fandom and unhealthy choices are married. Take a moment the next time you watching sporting people sport and look at the advertising. The advertising tells a lot about the demographic they’re targeting. Advertisers aren’t going to waste valuable ad money marketing to the wrong demographic. So, make a list of the commercials, the billboards, the sponsorships? These will hopefully enlighten you to how the advertisers see these consumers.
With fandom comes a lot of external acquisition of accomplishment. Like patriotism, sporting allows people to take credit for things they did not accomplish themselves. Sporting lets these people live vicariously through their heroes. Why are they heroes? I can’t say anymore because I don’t see that anymore.
Am I saying not to watch sporting? Am I saying not to sport? Of course not. I am just warning of the fanaticism most feel about their sportsball teams and sportsball players. And I simply ask you pay attention to what the advertisers think of you and what’s inside of you. You don’t need the accomplishments of others to make you feel good. You can make yourself great again.
I hope you find whatever you are looking for. Have the day you want.
