Personal Meditation No. 105
“Only you can bring yourself peace.”
Embrace the Within.
Eventually I had come to the realization that my life was all under my control. If I was going to be happy, if I was going to feel good, if I was going to be at peace, then I was going to have to do that on my own. I couldn’t rely on anyone else to make me happy or make me healthy or make me content. And I think a lot of us know that fact but have a difficult time owning that truth.
The only person I have total control over is myself. There are many means I can use to influence the thoughts and actions of others BUT, ultimately, I only have authority and control over myself. So, I have to take ownership of my body, my mind, and my life. And that is a daunting and terrifying task.
How am I qualified to run someone else’s life if I can’t run my own? How am I qualified to help other people if I haven’t helped myself? There are many unhealthy doctors pushing unhealthy practices. There are many unhealthy counselors pushing unhealthy practices. And there is never a shortage of experts on your timeline that don’t have their lives together trying to tell you how to live. Dr. Phil put out a diet book . . . the government provides school lunches . . . Not even the institutions that are allegedly looking out for your best interest are doing what they say.
So, it comes down to you. You have to figure it out on your own. You have to do the work and the research and the action. There are some folks out there that can help point the way like Dr. Cate, Cynthia Thurlow, Dr. Ken Berry, David Perlmutter, and others that can point out the steps. There are folks like Gary Collins, Shereen Thorr, and Jason Stapleton and others that can point the way. BUT, it comes down to you.
The only way you’re going to get what you want out of life is taking ownership of you. I am now taking that journey myself. I am up every morning working on the business of making myself better. I am up every morning working on getting healthy physically, mentally, and financially. I am up every morning working on my journey to freedom. I am up every morning working towards peace.
I could get angry, I could get scared, I could get defeated, I could get a lot of different things. But I choose peace. What are you choosing today?
Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
