Personal Meditation No. 104

"Start worrying about yourself. If you don't invest in your own life, then why would anyone else choose to invest in your life either."

Embrace the Within.

I am so happy that I don’t spend my days preoccupied with background noise, fake news, and forms of gossip. Cutting those things from my life freed up the time to focus on making my self, my life, and my world better. It gave me the time to focus on the things I could change and not the things that are superfluous.

Now that doesn’t keep me from criticism. Nothing will ever keep you from the criticism of other people. That seems to be something folks like to do regardless of time and space. BUT getting perspective and focus lets the volume get turned down on those things as well. I used to say that if you weren’t putting in, then you didn’t get a voice and I still agree with that concept. No one that isn’t contributing positively to my life gets a say in what I’m doing. I don’t give my ear to complaints and arguments. I give my ear to knowledge and wisdom.

In my past I’ve been down a lot of the roads from where criticism arises. I have walked the path of changing the world by forcing the good word on others. I have walked the path of erasing the realities of the world with chemicals. I have walked the path of following the ideas and dogmas of others. I have walked the path of an unhealthy and unproductive life. And I moved on from that and took control of my self, my life, and my world.

Sure, it isn’t as flashy and glamorous as a lot of things. It doesn’t get me a ton of followers. It doesn’t get me a lot of air play. BUT what it does get me is control. And that’s what I have been missing and what I needed in my life.

I have spent a lot of time in the world of freedom thinking with no direction. I mean sometimes it seemed like direction and purpose but it was just blowing off steam. It was just being angry that the world was wrong. That society was a mess. That people couldn’t get it figured out. And even though those things have yet to change, they do not need to change in order for me to change. I can change my world by changing myself. And, hopefully, some folks will come along on their journey and we’ll find a better world together on the other side of the path. But, I’m not going to waste my time yelling. I’m not going to waste my time being angry. I’m not going to spend my time converting folks. I have accepted that courage is choosing to change and most people want the same as everyone else.

So, I’m here every morning tapping away for me and those of you that are also taking that journey. I’m here to let you know that your change is important because my change is important. I’m here to live my beliefs and show that it is possible to live your beliefs. I’m here to put in the work.

I hope you find some solace and comfort in knowing we are not alone. I hope you find your journey gets easier every day. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for because I have as well.
