"You must… remind yourself of God, Who God is, and what God is and what God has done."
D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
God gives us wisdom to know who God is through a personal relationship with Him. God is not just like a father but he is our Father. He is the Father of all things. And He wants to walk with us and talk with us and instruct us and lead us toward all the greatness He has created. I have a great relationship with my father and I know that seems to not be the normal situation in my society. There are a lot of father issues out there in the community. But a father is supposed to protect and guide us. Becoming a father and working through those relationships with my own children, I have gained a lot of perspective in what it takes to be a father. I am by no means perfect in this relationship, however, basing my relationship with my children on the same foundation of God’s relationship with me, I am starting to get a lot more perspective. I read the Bible so differently than I did as a child. Reading through the Torah and the struggle of God’s people to follow His instructions. The stubbornness of Y’israel reveals a lot of stubbornness and arrogance that I had in my life and I see in the world around me. I see a relationship that is broken and flawed BUT I also see Adonai doing everything He can to guide His children out of love. I see a Father trying to fix a broken relationship and works to create a bridge to restore us even when we make huge mistakes.
Adonai has done a lot for us. And He isn’t going to stop doing good things for us. He sent His Son to fulfill the Law. He gave us that perfect remedy to bridge the gap from our sin and transgression through the death and resurrection of His Son. BUT some of us are still too stubborn to take the hand up. Some of us are still building obstacles and worshiping stones. Some of us are still hardening our hearts. Some of us are looking for our own way over God’s Way.
I am choosing the happiness that resides in His Covenant. I am choosing to be a child of the King. I am choosing His Kingdom through Christ.
“How happy are those whose way of life is blameless,
who live by the Torah of Adonai!
How happy are those who observe his instruction,
who seek him wholeheartedly!”
Tehilillim 119:1-2 CJB
