“There is always enough time.”

Embrace the Within.

We always find the time for whatever we value, whatever we find important, whatever we want. This idea that there is never enough time in a day, in a week, in a year, in a life is just an excuse. There is always enough time to do drugs, there is always enough time to gamble, there is always enough time to be unhealthy, AND there is always enough time to be healthy. We just like to use the finiteness of humane existence to give us an excuse.

There will always be enough time for whatever you value. The difficult part is coming to terms with what our lives say about what we value. I didn’t value myself very much for the longest time. I treated my body and my life as something that was already on borrowed time. I didn’t concern myself with the quality of the life I was living or even the quantity of the life I was living. I was a mess. And spending fourteen days with who I was led me to make some distinct and measured changes to my trajectory. Those fourteen days let everything become clear about the mistakes I was making and the direction I needed to focus on to get myself free.

The path to freedom was a lot of work and it took a lot of time. BUT it never took more time than I had. There always seems to be as much time in the day to get done now what needs to get done. Just like there was always enough time in the past to get done the unhealthy things. There is just enough time now to do the healthy things as well. It’s quite amazing.

So the excuse of limited time can be a great tool to prevent us from changing or a motivating force for change. We are only here on this earth for a limited time. So how are you going to use that brief span of time? No matter your choice. You will always have enough time to live that life.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

“It may not be your fault but it is still your problem.”

Embrace the Within.

Mondays and Fridays in the teaching game are getting a little out of hand right now. There is a shortage of substitutes in the buildings all over. And coverage then falls on classroom teachers giving up their planning periods to make certain classes do not go unchecked. A lot of classes every day. And even more on Mondays and Fridays.

There seems to be a shortage in labor all around. I see “Now Hiring” signs all around and hear stories of horrible customer service all the time. None of this is my fault but it all turns into my problem.

I am not concerned with how we got in this situation. Placing blame and pointing fingers might make some people feel better about the situation, however, that never solves the problem. The problem does need a solution because things can not go on like this much longer. Folks are stressed out and overworked. If things continue like this for much longer, then there may be some violence from folks that are worn out. So, I know that a turn is coming. There is no way the power structure will allow things to get to a point where their power is in question and in peril.

BUT, what can we do until the narrative changes and the world becomes sane again? The only thing we can ever do. Take ownership of our life. Take control of the way you handle the days. Take control of how you feel and act. Take control of your world.

Once you get control of your body, your mind, your life, then the external factors will melt away into background noise. You will see the humor in the seriousness of life. You will find the calm that is all around you waiting to be claimed.

Maybe you can’t change the situations BUT you can change how you handle the situations. So, when you’re facing a short-staffed world full of stressed and tired folks, you can be calm and happy because even though it’s not your fault, it is still your problem.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
