“Continuing to look for a political solution, a government solution, is to not understand change.”

Be the Change.

I have really tried to stop talking about, arguing about, and contemplating politics. For some reason, a lot of people like to still talk about politics and government. They still like to argue about politics and government. And they still like to think they have a politics and government solution. Those folks need to understand change. What good is any of this really going to do for your life? The answer is very little. BUT folks still go out and vote. Folks still go out and run for office. Folks still go out and protest. Folks still get riled up by the talking heads. Folks still keep feeding into the system. If you don’t feed it, if you don’t glorify it, if you don’t make excuses for it, then it will die. The political system, the government system, needs your participation to validate itself.

The system has you believing that your vote matters. The system has you believing you can change it. The system has you believing it cares about what you think. You can’t change the world without changing yourself first. And anyone involved in changing themself does not have time to worry about politics and government. A person involved in changing themself is busy enacting change.

So, that is why I don’t argue about the system anymore. That is why I joke about politics and government now. Because it is a joke. To take this whole system seriously is a mistake. Folks seriously believe that the label they support is going to be different than the other label are just foolish. The system does what the system does. You can’t change the system. You have to create a new system.

I am hoping these words fall on listening ears. Ears that no longer want to be worried about politics and government. Ears that want to hear the good news. And the good news is that you don’t need them. You do not need a man or a woman or a non-binary person to lead you. You don’t need to feed into a system that wants to make you angry and defensive. You don’t need a system that sees you as a commodity. You need to take care of yourself. You need to change yourself.

So, stop getting angry about the things you can not change and start working on you? You can change a lot that makes a real difference. You can get healthy. You can think better. You can find your purpose. You can live abundantly. And no one in politics or government wants you to do those things. There is no get healthy initiative in this country, there is only reactive medicine. There is no think better initiative in this country, there is only government education and standardized tests. There is no find your purpose initiative in this country, there is only get a job and work yourself to death for corporate and government greed. If you see what they are telling you, then you will understand what the system wants. It does not want you to be better. It does not want you to be great. It does not want you to change. It wants what is best for itself.

“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Embrace the Within.

I am constantly learning new things, listening to new ideas, and revising my journey. I read and listen to things that I are not in agreement with my beliefs. I read and listen to things that contradict my beliefs. I read and listen to things that challenge my beliefs. I read and listen to things that make me question the beliefs of others. I do this not to tear down the beliefs of others as I once did. I do this not to make fun of the beliefs of others as I once did. I do this mainly because seeing and hearing the beliefs of others and not being dismissive and judgmental is something I need to work about fixing. So, I am doing this to change me, to work on me, to make me better than I was yesterday.

And I think that’s how my journey is going to go. I remember a few years ago saying that I wasn’t going to learn another thing about chickens and gardening. I thought I had hit my limits of learning anything new. I was exhausted from learning new things about growing my own food. BUT, here I am still learning new things and working on the old things. I think sometimes the amount of new stuff to learn can be daunting. It can wear you out and shut you down.

The great thing is that we are resilient. We can hit a wall and stop for a breather. We can take some time to unplug and self care. We can take time to get ourselves stable and happy. And then we can get right back out there and keep learning new things, keep expanding our skills, keep working on change, and keep traveling our journey.

Life is meant to be lived abundantly and joyfully. And I get no joy or abundance out of clinging to the same me. I get joy and abundance out of making my life better, making my environment better, making my self better, and making my journey better.

This weekend looks like as good a time as any to start planting seeds and getting things ready for the spring and summer. I have a lot of new plants going in the greenhouses and a lot of changes to the structure of the plantation. A lot of changes coming over the next five months or so that will hopefully solidify the foundation of what I see as the future of my outside space. It’s been a long fourteen days that has taken over three years of trial and error to move into this space. And it was a lot more failure than success. BUT, I keep working because it is a journey.

I hope your journey is moving forward as well. Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
