Embrace the Hero Within.

We’ve reached the end of your journey. At this final point in the adventure, you must retain the wisdom gained on the quest, integrate that wisdom into your previous life, and perhaps decide how to share the wisdom with the rest of the world.

Returning with the Ultimate Boon and incorporating that knowledge into your new life moving forward is not an easy task. You went out on a journey away from your normal routine. You faced trials, obstacles, and challenges along that journey. You triumphed and returned to a tribe that did none of those things. This is where you will need to gain perspective. When we know something, believe something, understand something, we tend to take for granted that others will find the same value of that knowledge and then feel bewildered, dazed, and confused when others do not embrace that knowledge as whole-heartedly as we embrace that knowledge. BUT, they are not where we are and we are not where they are. We all have our own journeys to take and our own truths to learn. The truth is the truth BUT we must experience our own truths.

Bilbo returned to a Shire that abandoned him for dead and eventually he grew tired of living among hobbits and left the rest of the journey to Frodo, Amari had to find freedom across the Atlantic Ocean in a strange land, Jesus was persecuted and murdered for returning with his truth, while Anakin and Luke sacrificed their lives to keep truth alive. The journey might end with one Boon BUT the next journey is always around the corner as we struggle to become better humans. We can learn from the journeys of those who came before us and incorporate their truths into our quest to be better. And that is all we can hope that others do as well. Our truth is not something to be forced upon other people. Forcing the knowledge on others is not a way of learning the truth. Folks must voluntarily take the journey and find the truth on their own.

So, live your truth. Be a light of truth in the dark places of life. Use the truth to illuminate the path for yourself and those that will look for the truth. Do not use the truth as a weapon. Use the truth to make life easier, better, more abundant. Through your journey, through your change, through your return, through your example, the world can see an example of heroism. The heroism of change.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

The Truth is the Truth.

Embrace the Hero Within.

There is much work and many trials, obstacles. and challenges to face along your journey to the Ultimate Boon. If you remember from earlier, the Ultimate Boon is usually a physical object to which is also attached a code of conduct or moral that the hero must learn. But what we sometimes fail to consider about the Ultimate Boon is that the hero must incorporate this lesson into the hero’s life. The Ultimate Boon brings a deeper understanding of life to the hero.

When the hero begins the journey, the hero is ill-prepared and naive in understanding the way the world around the hero operates. The hero has just a tiny interaction and appreciation for the grandeur of life and the hero’s palace within that framework. Through the trials, obstacles, and challenges, a hero begins to learn not only about the world around them but about the hero’s own character. The hero is transformed into someone worthy of learning, achieving, and incorporating the Ultimate Boon.

Bilbo and Frodo found the courage inside themselves, Amari and Jesus learned acceptance, and Anakin, Luke, and Rey found unconditional love and a greater understanding of the universe. The Road of Trials and their experiences transformed them into someone that was now mature enough in their understanding to accept the Ultimate Boon and incorporate that knowledge into their self. With a greater understanding of the world, each hero sets back home to share this knowledge with those they left behind. It is not important whether or not those back home truly understand the knowledge BUT it is the responsibility of the hero to return with that knowledge. The hero must change with the knowledge the hero has gained and live a transformed life in witness to that change.

So, what is the lesson you and I are going to learn on our journey? There are so many different things we can learn. Maybe it’s empathy, peace, compassion, love, acceptance, faith, loyalty, friendship, or family. Where our journey goes and where it leads is always an individual experience. The problem we experience as heroes sometimes is what we do with the knowledge we have. I ran into doing very unheroic things with my knowledge and used it as a battering ram. As I continued my journey, I learned and grew into accepting that my truth was not a truth to be forced on others. With wisdom and maturity, the hero can avoid the mistakes of being overzealous. And I think that is a lesson we can all learn many times throughout life. Returning with the Ultimate Boon is great for both us and our tribe, however the way we present the Ultimate Boon and incorporate it into our lives is even more important.

Preach the good word BUT realize the only person you can change and did change was yourself. Everyone else has to take their own path and find their own truth.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
