“It’s not all in your mind but if you don’t control your mind, then the rest doesn’t matter.”

Embrace the Within

What a horrendous week. You ever just have one of those weeks that won’t end? Well, going through one of those this week and totally derailed myself from getting back into typing away in the morning. Just one of those weeks that got me totally misaligned and out of focus.

BUT, I got back to working out yesterday and today. Just felt like shit on Monday and Tuesday. Could not manage to get it together enough to eat. Survived on vegetables and a Snickers bar those two days. BUT, I am finally feeling mentally and physically back to normal with the routine of working out and typing coming back

So, I figured I would reset back to an old but good quote about controlling your mind. I am going to work on that today despite the way this week is turning out at work. I am going to get into a better mental space about testing and just embrace that sometimes you are going to have weeks that are not going to go your way. BUT, despite and in spite of that, I am going to always get back to my routine of normalcy by setting my mind to work the plan.

I feel a lot better today after sitting down and starting to type. I really don’t have a lot more to say about how horrible this week has turned out to be. I just want to focus on getting back on track.

So, today, I took the steps to make myself feel better. I got up and drank water. I got up and worked out my body. I got up and worked out my mind tap-tap-tap-a-rooing. So, I have established the foundation of what I need to feel better. I need hydration. I need movement. I need to get my thoughts in order. I even left myself a note on my desk yesterday of things I need to accomplish at work this morning. Laying the foundation for having a successful day is important because winning that mental battle first thing in the morning is a huge step in setting yourself up for success. I am going to have the day I want.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Be the Change.

Folks are easy to influence and manipulate. I know. Not you. BUT, yes you and me too. Just look around your InterWebs, listen to conversations, engage in small talk . . . folks want to be influenced into shortcuts to critical thinking. Principles and beliefs are secondary. Those things can change like socks. What is really important?

For most folks what is truly important is belonging. Whatever the leaders of the tribe say, then the congregation has to follow. There is a need for worship and in the place of religion these folks begin to worship the loudest voice. The most certain voice. The voice that echoes their message. Facts and rational thought be damned.

I like to question. I like to critically think. I like to look at motives. I guess I am just weird that way. BUT I am not going to just take someone’s word as if it were from the mouth of the Divine itself. I even question gospel and things written in stone. So, I am definitely going to question things typed or spoken. That is just my nature.

Folks want to talk about how things should change and then just go back to doing the same. And that is fine. Change is not coming from those folks. Change does not need them to be active participants. Those of us that are changing things need to just keep changing things. It will eventually catch up to them just like any change.

Twenty years ago folks campaigned on being against gay marriage. Twenty years ago folks campaigned against marijuana. And things change. Cultures change because we change the culture. And we need to continue doing our change. These changes did not occur because of the many doing soul searching and questioning their beliefs. These changes occurred because the many went along with the current. They rode the tide.

The few need to keep working on the path of the road and keep carving out the correct trail. The rest will follow. So, do not feel discouraged that your voice is small. Do not feel discouraged that your change is overlooked. Do not feel discouraged that you are misunderstood. The change will come as long as we commit to the change. Folks will come along for the ride.
