"Everyone chooses their level of involvement. We might share the same place BUT that does not mean we share the same space. Not everyone in the congregation is Christian."

Be the Change.

Let me tell you. A two minute plank, thirty push-ups, and thirty crunches are not as easy a step up as I was thinking. BUT I am still committed to making these permanent changes to my morning routine. The fifty jumping-jacks, however, were a breeze to add as well as the additional tens I added in other parts of my routine. Sometimes I get frustrated with my current state of fitness, both mentally and physically.

I get setbacks and obstacles. I find ways to derail my own progress. BUT I get to choose if those are permanent conditions or temporary problems. I am looking at everything as a temporary problem right now. A few years ago I would have been back off this lifestyle change and into a rut of being unhealthy. It is amazing how much a little fourteen days can change your perspective if you allow it.

I truly have very little to say today. I did a lot of struggling with myself this weekend and struggling with a tree. I bare the scars from both situations and I am in a better mental space today because of those struggles. I think a corner has been turned in my path and that things are starting to make more sense. Unlike some of my colleagues, I am never leaving the space of education. I am not looking to be an administrator, a bureaucrat, or leave and get a base job as part of the military-industrial complex. I am always going to teach. As a guru, I know of nothing more suited for my life’s work.

So, I am going to keep laying down lessons. And I hope you care enough to listen and learn along with me in this journey of change. Have the day you want.

“Don’t be a doughnut. Fill your hole.”

Be the Change.

Personal motivation seems in short supply these days. I am glad my friends are self motivated. I could not be friends with people that are not motivated by what is within them. Even when I was following paths paved for me by others, I wanted a different flavor, a unique style to separate my path from the path already traveled. I never wanted to do something exactly the same as anyone else. I wanted to take their thing and make it my own.

Some people simply want whatever their neighbor has. And I sue the term neighbor loosely as anyone that lives within their sphere of movement. You don’t have to live next to someone for them to be your neighbor. You just need your paths to intersect in the randomness of life.

I prefer to go after internal goals. I don’t want anyone else’s raised beds, greenhouse, chicken run, rabbit coops . . . I want what works for my life.

Oftentimes we spend our days and nights going after someone else’s dreams, after someone else’s goals, and we can not understand why we feel empty. We forgot to start with what we wanted and that is the only place to begin and end. What do I want out of life?

Some of those wants will be things BUT most often we are searching for the feeling that comes from the possession of those things. We want to be wanted. We want to be safe. We want to be respected. We want to be loved. And at times we think the possession is what gives us that feeling. That by spending enough money on the newest and latest is going to fill that hole. No matter how hard you try to shove an item into your inner hole, it is never going to fit.

So, stop trying to fill your hole with things that are not going to work. Have the conversation with yourself about what you truly want out of this life. Have the conversation with yourself about what is going to make you happy. Have the conversation with yourself about what is going to fill your hole abundantly. You are not a doughnut. You need to fill that hole.
