Personal Meditation No. 18 (Don't be a doughnut)

“Don’t be a doughnut. Fill your hole.”

Embrace the Within.

Most people aren’t ready to face problems even if they created the problems. We create a lot of our own problems simply from miscommunication. Our inability to adequately understand what we want and desire lies at the center of most of these communication issues. When we don’t understand ourselves, it is difficult to articulate our wants and desires to anyone else.

We are the source and remedy of all our problems. Understanding ourselves and our internal motivations gives us all the insight we need to discover the root or source of our problems. We may need to find some guidance or information in nature, from those we trust, or from gurus but the ultimate action in solving the problems remains with our actions and thoughts. The guidance and wisdom of others is of little use if we don’t internalize the external.

We have to first embrace the within before we can even contemplate correctly expanding our sphere of influence. You know, you can’t help others if you haven’t helped yourself. If you attempt that route of helping yourself through helping others, then you’re going to still feel empty. It’s a natural feeling because you’ve become a doughnut. Nothing at the center and everything external. And a lot of people are living like doughnuts.

They have no foundation internalized to guide them. They are hollow and empty but surrounded with a lot of dough, surrounded with a lot of things, surrounded with a lot of pomp and circumstance. But in the middle, nothing but air.

Today, work on not being a doughnut? Fill your hole, your center by finding out what you truly want, what you truly desire, what you truly are? Not only will you feel at peace but you will be able to share that peace with others.

I hope you find whatever you’re looking for. Have the day you want.
