Control Your Narrative no. 1

“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Control Your Narrative.

Back at the beginning of this whole recent mess and scare, I was worried. This was three years ago that the fourteen days began. And I was worried about food, not about getting sick. I saw long lines at the butcher shops. I heard rumbles of supply chain problems. I was worried about feeding my family. I was worried about what I would do if the system did collapse.

I was years into libertarian and Libertarian realms. I was hanging out online with anarchists and both big and little “l” libertarians and I was a staunch advocate in a new system. This current system is an absolute mess built upon violence. The system's means were a definite problem in creating an authoritarian and violent ends to which I was in no way aligned. BUT, I had no plan for when the system no longer existed. I was just a bunch of talk, a lot of rhetoric, a lot of philosophy, BUT no action.

And that is where this all started. I knew I had to get my life aligned with my thoughts. Talking about getting free was not going to get me there. Listening to other folks talking about getting free was not going to get me there. So, I took my little one raised garden bed operation and I went out and bought some plants and seeds. I spent more time and attention on my own backyard and went to work without a plan. And without a plan, I failed. My first attempt at gardening and growing food would have left myself and my family starving. So, I revamped and committed. I put together a plan and then that plan kept refining and focusing. That plan kept growing into a reality.

And after fourteen days of this nonsense, I have a system that works for me. A system that put into action what I believed. A system that aligned with my philosophy of freedom. A system that supported my life.

Maybe you aren’t worried about eating. Maybe you are prepping in your little underground bunker for the end of the world with cans of beans and tons of ammunition. Maybe that is your idea of living. It was not mine. I am not going to go underground and hide my light under the earth. I am going to shine my light throughout the house. I am building my system in plain view because I want everyone to know that you can go from one garden box failure to a true plan for a better way.

So, I want you to think about what you want. Maybe you want to shorten your supply chain. Maybe you want to get in better health. Maybe you want to get your words and actions aligned. Maybe you just want something different. Maybe you just need a change. What can you do to make your life better?

If that is you, then I want you to think about what you are doing. Take a good look at what you say you want and what you actually do. I want you to write it out. Whether you open a Google Doc or get an index card or find a legal pad or write it on an envelope or find a notepad, I want you to write out what you believe. I want you to look at that belief statement and then I want you to write down three steps, three concrete, actionable steps, that you can take today to get yourself closer to that goal, that belief, that change. Put it in writing. Share it with a friend. Share it with anyone that will hold you accountable.

Sharing what we are going to do holds us accountable for making that change. So, don’t write it down if you don’t want change. Don’t share it with anyone if you don’t want change. Keep on just talking about it if you don’t want change. BUT if you do want change. I want you to write down your three steps like me.

  1. I am going to start my day with a workout routine.

  2. I am going to plant seeds and raise chickens to shorten my supply chain.

  3. I am going to type out my thoughts and post them every day.

Start controlling your narrative by making three simple goals today. Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

I got tired of looking for places to place blame and others to fix my problems. I hope you find some of what you're looking for here as well.
