“Your beliefs are your actions. What you say is just what you think.”

Embrace the Within

Well, it is working which means that I am back up and working. And that is a great thing. These past fourteen literal and figurative days were a bit rough. I don’t think looking around now that most people are doing as okay as I am now even with my bump in the path. I can see that folks are becoming accustomed to feeling less than.

Folks, young and old, are being beat down by this fear that is taking hold of the world. The fear is nothing new. The fear has been around for quite a long time. Dr. Thompson wrote about the fear back some fifty years ago BUT now the fear has a wider, weaponized effect and affect on the population with the rise of twenty-four hour media and non-stop social media. The fear peddlers never take a break from running out some new version of the fear for folks to find troubling. And it is never going to end in this system.

So, you gotta find ways outside the systems of control to find peace. I see an awful lot of folks yelling at the system and fighting the system while participating in the system. And that just doesn’t make logical sense. You can’t change a system that is working the way it is intended. You have to make new systems to replace those systems.

This is why I started working on me. It is the only thing I can truly work on that brings about any meaningful change because I am in control of every aspect of me. I get to decide that I wake up and work out physically and mentally. I get to decide what I am going to put into my body both physically and mentally. I get to decide how I am going to react both physically and mentally. I get to use my knowledge of influence to nudge those around me into making those decisions as well. I don’t force anyone to do anything BUT I do encourage folks to change their self-destructive behaviors into self-sustaining behaviors. BUT if you want to destroy yourself and the world around you, then I am not going to stop you. I am going to work on me and my systems.

That’s right. I am working on systems. I started working on a system of growing my own food. I started working on a system of sustainability. I started working on a system of physical growth. I started working on a system of mental growth. I started working on a system of emotional and spiritual wellness. And none of those systems needs to impose violence on other people or make them act in any other way. It really takes me just moving away from the already existing systems that are destroying folks physically and mentally. Systems designed to beat and abuse you and bring you into an unhealthy position. An unhealthy position where you make worse and worse choices in order to keep the system in place. But, you can make better choices too. It’s all up to you.

So, how are you going to spend your day? Your life?

Are you going to choose to be controlled or are you going to take back your body, your mind, your health, your life?

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

“It’s not all in your mind but if you don’t control your mind, then the rest doesn’t matter.”

Embrace the Within

Look who made it back from another bad patch? That’s right. The past week or so was quite a mess and I am still not full back into being better BUT I am working on it. Today was the first day I felt like I could really pull it together enough to get back into the routine. So, I worked out this morning for the first time in about a week and here I am back at the machine tap-tap-tap-a-rooing again.

The last days started with just a funk and a bad mind set that I am still working under. I just can’t seem to get my headspace right at the moment. BUT getting back into the routine of working out my body and mind is going to be a good start. Then we can get back to eating better again because that fell by the wayside. Once you get into a rut and commit to not being healthy, you can go from a good place to a bad place quite quickly.

The positive takeaway is that I can get back to where I was and beyond because I have the power to control that space. Sure my mind isn’t where I want it to be right now BUT I am not giving up on it. I have to put in some work to get things changed with it.

I was in a flannel shirt wearing, non-tucked lifestyle there for a few days and that is not who I want to be. I need the button-up, sports coat, looking the part every day to get me back on track. I am committed to that gimmick everyday while the nights get longer and the days get colder. Because that dress influences my perspective on my day. I feel professional because I look professional. I don’t know if that makes sense to you BUT it does work wonders for me when I dress the part I want to play. My dress reflects my mood and in turn influences my mind set.

So, I may not be where I want to be. I hit a reset. I hit a speed bump. I got off track. BUT I’m not choosing to stay there. I didn’t buy land there. I took down the tent I pitched there. And here I am getting back on the right course.

Sometimes life is difficult. Sometimes you are not going to make the right choices. Sometimes your mind is going to be against you. And that is alright because you can get things back on track. As always, it is not going to be easy to make those changes. Life is always going to take work because staying alive, being healthy, and living abundantly are not the natural state of being a human today or yesterday. And the struggle is what it takes to get you to the next level of living.

So if you’re struggling then remember that you’re trying. You’re working on the change. So keep on fighting because you will push through and find the better life you were seeking.

Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
