“Tomorrow is uncertain. All I have is the present.”

Embrace the Within.

I love making plans and lists. I will definitely be making a list tomorrow as I sit through meetings and prepare for another school year. I find a peace in planning that allows me to let worry slide away. Plans, for me, combat the uncertainty of tomorrow.

I have a routine for the same reason. Every morning when I wake, I begin with the same routine of physical, mental, and spiritual health in order to align my nephesh with the purpose for the day. And that purpose is the same every day. My purpose is to work toward being better in body and mind and spirit daily. And that is sometimes and often a painful experience. I am quite used to the pain of aging and working on physical health like I have never before BUT the pain is a sign of growth and change. And we do need some pain to enter our life and should not do everything to dull or mask that pain.

Maybe you need a plan for your life. I know that having a plan to make time for God is an important step in the process of adding to my routine. As I worked on physical and mental health, I learned slowly that the spiritual component of health was just as important. If I wasn’t taking time to get to all the aspects of health, then there was going to be adverse problems with the other two.

For years I focused on just mental health. As long as I knew enough, studied enough, read enough, thought enough, I was going to be alright. BUT, your mind isn’t healthy if you keep feeding your body garbage. Your mind runs on the same food that you feed your muscles. So, working on clearing out a lot of that garbage helped get the body and the mind together which finally led to getting my spirit healthy.

It has been a process that is extremely important to understand in our spiritual life. There are a lot of folks out there acting like our spirit and our bodies are not connected. BUT, what you feed your mind and your body also affects your spirit. Running your body off foods that are garbage, running your mind on studies that are garbage, will only lead to a spirit that struggles in a dump. Cleaning up our body and mind helps our spirit get exposed to the clean environment it needs to grow.

There are plenty of folks out there working on one aspect of their self. And we all need to get all of our self in alignment. We need a body and a mind and a spirit working in unison to build the better self.

Peace to your home. Bless your being. The reign of God is now. Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.

“Words matter.”

Embrace the Within.

What we say and how we say it are important things that we all find problems controlling. We get caught up in a moment, caught up in a feeling, caught up acting, and we forget to speak from the heart of Christ and we speak often with a hardened heart. A heart that is not aligned with Truth BUT aligned with our truth. And that is something I am struggling toward reconciling. In my past, I was quick to mock and scoff at folks that had not put in, what I judged, important enough consideration for their lives. I am still no fan of folks that can see that their path is wrong and continue to cling to that path BUT I will not treat them cruelly or harshly by calling them names and having a heart of anger towards them. And it becomes my obligation to ask for forgiveness not only from God BUT also from them for the cruelty and anger that was in my heart not so long ago.

Owning my past mistakes is one important step in making certain I acknowledge that I have done wrong and that I am leaving those actions and thoughts in the past. I am not going to dwell in those actions and thoughts. I am not going to blame myself or make excuses for those things. I am giving them to the past where they belong, however, I am using the lessons of the past to make me better align myself in the future.

I will leave the past in the past and use those lessons going forward. Not only is it important for me to ask for forgiveness BUT it is also to forgive myself for making those poor choices. There needs to be a change in my words and actions or nothing has changed in me. Salvation is not returning to my old habits, my old routines, and my old way of doing things. Salvation requires my personal ownership of my past and future actions. Salvation requires that I take personal responsibility for my words and actions going forward. Salvation requires a change in me. God isn’t changing. God doesn’t change. The way I follow God is not different from the scripture. The way I follow God is not open to a new agreement between God and I. The way I follow God is written. So, I have to choose if I am going to read, listen, and study what the Word says so I can serve God or if I am going to bend those words to serve me.

Peace to your home. Bless your being. The reign of God is now. Have the day you want. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.
