Father,

There is so much for which to be thankful. And for all those things for which I am thankful, You deserve the glory. You allow this great creation to exist. You create a path through the way of the world to salvation through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. You have known me from the beginning. You know my walk this side of eternity and my walk beyond. I am thankful for the daily walk of sanctification that allows me to grow closer to You.

I embrace being an ambassador for your Kingdom. Let me walk as a better ambassador for Your Kingdom this week than the week before. Help me walk in the Way of the Lord better each day. I give You the authority to lead with Your Way and Truth and not my way each day.

I pray for those that are struggling with physical, mental, and spiritual suffering. Specifically I pray for my friend to be made physically, mentally, and spiritually whole. Place Your hand of healing and protection over her. I pray for my brother’s family and that You will provide the physical healing that is needed in this time of their need, I pray for the hearts of my family members that need physical, mental, and spiritual healing and that You bring your grace and sanctification into their lives. I pray for the physical healing of my brother’s family and that You bring wholeness to their being that You created. I pray for reconciliation among family and friends and that You will move hearts and minds to show your grace and mercy to each other. And finally I pray for my heart and body. That you will make me better physically and spiritually.

Help us all find Your reassuring Spirit. Bring us all peace and comfort. I pray that Your grace and forgiveness fall upon us all as we work out Your Truth.

I pray for those uncertain of the future. Those that are worrying about the situations and obstacles created in the way of the world. Help them to see that there is a Way that You provide through this broken and fallen world of humans. Give them the peace and joy that comes from Your Grace.

Forgive me for my failures. As I work out Your path this side of eternity, I am not perfect. I am working each day to become a better ambassador of Your Kingdom BUT I don’t have it all worked out. I stumble, I fail, and I fall BUT You keep allowing me time to work out sanctification through grace and mercy. And I am thankful for that patience. That even though I fail You quite often, You do not stop working on making me better.

Allow me to forgive both myself and others for failing. Often I set unrealistic expectations for myself and the lives of others. We are only saved by Your grace and I can only work within the limitations of my understanding. Allow me the Grace, Wisdom, and Truth to walk more in Your Way.

Thank you, Father.

Amen

“Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.”

Matthew 5:7 AMP

What is mercy? Mercy is definitely not revenge or justice. And our politicized society in America is not concerned with mercy. Our society is infused with a desire for punishment and justice. Folks want to cancel ideas and people to whom they do not agree. Folks want to show anything but mercy and they are miles away from forgiveness.

How blessed you are when you demonstrate tender mercy [Or “merciful to forgive.” The Hebraic and Aramaic concept of mercy is that it comes from our innermost being. The root word for “mercy” is the root word for “womb.” See 2 Sam. 22:26; Ps. 18:25; Prov. 14:21; James 2:13.]! For tender mercy will be demonstrated to you.”

Matthew 5:7 TPT

Mercy is something that comes from our innermost being. That innermost being is not something that we created. That innermost being is something created and placed by God that allows us to be tender and merciful to others. When we find compassion in spite and despite the actions of others, then we find how God has created us. In a world crying out for punishment, mercy is the inversion that God wants for our lives.

Blessed are the mercifull: for they shall obteine mercie.

Matthew 5:7 GNV

As a Christian I need mercy. Without mercy I have no salvation. Without showing mercy I will not obtain mercy in return from God.

“Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”.

Matthew 5:7 NMV

If I am to be saved, then I am to be merciful to others. Loving my neighbor as God loves me requires that I forgive my neighbor. Loving my neighbor requires that I show the same mercy that God showed me. I don’t deserve salvation. I don’t deserve forgiveness. My neighbor doesn’t deserve my mercy. My neighbor doesn’t deserve my forgiveness. BUT I give it anyway just as God gave mercy anyway.

“How blessed are those who show mercy! for they will be shown mercy.'”

Mattityahu 5:7 CJB

Mercy is an important part of my walk in the Way of the Lord. As I am surrounded by folks crying out for justice, I need to be crying out for mercy. God may be just and right BUT He is also merciful. And mercy, not justice, is the only thing paving my way to Glory.

I love you. I forgive you. Have a blessed and abundant day!
